I often wonder what it is about mountains that’s so soul-stirring. What makes them so inviting?
You’d know what I mean, if you’ve ever driven alongside a gushing river stream, a companion so alluring that you wouldn’t mind moving along it’s sharp curves. If you’ve ever felt that you’d been carrying an ocean of peace within yourself that only comes alive when you are engulfed by everything green, if you have observed that you sigh more when you gaze at the low and dark clouds crowning the hilltops, if you’ve ever asked yourself why Maggie tastes like heaven when the outside world has turned into a white blessing, or if you’ve slept better on those trips than in your own home.
No matter how many times I go back to the mountains, I never quite construe any of this, but then may be that’s how it is supposed to be – may be we aren’t meant to know and that’s how it’s meant to be.
My irrevocable love for mountains may be insatiable, but what about you?
Are you ready to be filled with a dash of magic I carry in my heart for everything green?
If yes, then let me tell you about – Kufri.
Let’s Get Familiar With Kufri:
Located at a distance of approx. 20 km from Shimla, Kufri is a tiny hill station surrounded by the mighty Himalayas. It boasts of being one of the most popular tourist destinations in Himachal Pradesh. But what’s interesting about this little beauty is that despite getting swarm of travelers every year, it has managed to stay pristine and hasn’t lost its authenticity.
Kufri is a perfect getaway whenever you decide to pack your bags. You’d always find its Monsoons, lush green and winters, serene white. And not just that, it has adventure sports, its diverse flora and fauna, and mountain peace at your disposal.
What all can we do when in Kufri? Well, quite a lot actually.
One of the most adventurous things one can do in Kufri is to go horse riding till the Mahasu Peak. The way to the peak remains muddy during monsoons and is quite steep and narrow, hence getting a little spooked up as you climb your way up is inevitable, but it is fun! For rest of the seasons, hiking is a must.

Another place that needs to be on your list is the Himalayan Nature Park. Established in 1992, the park is a home to many wild animals like Musk deer, Leopard cat, Wolf, Black bear etc. If you are a wildlife lover, this is the place for you.
What I loved about the zoo is the wealth of plants and trees that have been preserved within its boundaries, which makes walking around feel more like wandering into the woods.
